Peacekeepers of the Vast/Interstellar Wrestling Grand Prix

The Interstellar Wrestling Grand Prix or IWGP is the governing body of professional and semi-professional freestyle wrestling in Peacekeepers of the Vast/Interstellar League space. It strongly resembles the UFC, but its name is explicitly copied from the actual current IWGP, which runs New Japan Pro Wrestling. In the space future, Sports Entertainment is still the king, baby.

The IWGP is governed by a board of 9 sport leaders from ISL worlds, who are advised by larger groups of athletes, coaches, doctors, politicians, entrepreneurs, xenobiologists, endobiologists, and other important individuals. Through the Galactic Unified Rules of Professional Wrestling, the IWGP stipulates legal and illegal strikes, holds, and moves, as well as manners and methods of preparation for bouts; performance enhancements are monitored for legal and illegal modifications, as well as various combat or muscular enhancement drugs. There are rules for wrapping striking appendages, and timetables for the various activities the athletes undertake for competition.

The IWGP sanctions competition under the Galactic Unified Rules of Professional Wrestling in a variety of divisions for competitors in several classes, as shown below, vehemently irrespective of gender; if you make weight within your Division and Class, you may compete with sanction.

Titles

Championships are contested as follows, within a hierarchical order; generally, to contest for a championship at the Interplanetary level, one holds a Planetary title, as to be considered for greatness within one's polity, one should be the greatest from one's world.

Some titles are dormant, vacant, or nonexistent in various territories of the IWGP, as there are simply not enough interested parties; in these areas, the few wrestlers who seek competition are either relegated to purely amateur endeavors, or are forced to travel to the nearest relevant territory in their weight class. As such, certain zones of Interstellar League space have become known for particular fighting styles or for particularly powerful fighters in a specific weight class.
