The Diligence Incident was a galactic espionage operation gone wrong involving the Horkos cell of Peacekeepers.
A Vesper Merchant Navy freighter, the VMS Diligence, was discovered to be out of control in hyperspace. The Horkos cell was dispatched to investigate and handle the situation as appropriate. The team took control of the freighter, and it was dropped out of hyperspace and into around AZ6-E0012+2571 for further investigation and determination of final disposition.
- Onboard were found interesting things including
- bioprinters that were likely making a virus to be used as a bioweapon. This seems like an attempt to manufacture a pandemic by an interest who also develops a cure, to sell the cure to the afflicted group.
- a Solaran Union intelligence service(which?) spy named Rio Sousa frozen in a specialty cyrofreezer.
The shipping manifest of the Diligence indicated the vessel had been sent from Riga. More details are being declassified.
