Untitled Mecha Game/Recaps/Episode 101
The player characters, Roman Sullivan, Gesseno Volante, Gunther Brandt, Gustav Hampus Munck and Maria Visentin, have been recruited into a large French Resistance cell by Andre Gallais where they are tasked to intercept a mysterious German convoy shipping German material from Lyon-Bron airfield, over an out of the way route.
Gallais assigns Michel Raoult, a wine lover who is an excellent shot and driver (at least when sober), to serve as their guide. Additionally three Communists, three Liberals and three Royalists have been recruited to assist by blocking likely bridge crossings. He also, reluctantly, loans them his farm truck.
The team snuck up to the Lyon-Bron airfield, where they split into two teams. Roman and Gustav cut a hole in the back of the airfield's fence, snuck in, and killed the two sentries, taking their place. Meanwhile, Gesseno, Gunther, and Maria staged an accident scene further down the road. This allowed the team to ambush the German convoy, where they captured an SS officer , Lt. Col. Karl Lizt. Lizt had been ordered by SS Special Projects Director Col Wilheim Von Ekkelhardt to take his convoy to a secret base in a wooded grove between the diversionary canals of the Rhone River. Lizt was to was to take command and if necessary, execute Doktor Rainer Schmitt, the lead scientist on base.
After some deliberations, the team decided to deliver the captured material and intelligence to the liberals, and their friends under the supervision of Michel, while gathering the small communist and royalist squads to assault the secret base. Upon arrival, Gunther disguised himself as Lizt, talked his way where they made contact with Dr. Schmitt. Dr. Schmitt helped them steal the five prototype gepanzerter Kampfläufer - armored battle walkers, in exchange for his rescue, along with the mechanic Karine Vannier.
The battle walkers proved to be both strange and unstoppable. Each walker called out to a different member of the team, allowing them to intuitively operate the machines to devastating effect. The team stole what material they could from the base, destroyed the rest, and fled with the loyalist and communist resistants eastward along the Rhone.
They have stopped for few hours in a copse of trees a few kilometers east of the secret base to rest and regroup. There, Dr. Schmitt explained that he had sabotaged the creation of the walkers as long as possible, but under Ekkelhardt's direction, the project had been given high priority and numerous resources, despite many failures and deaths. Furthermore, at the heart of each walker is a mysterious red box. It is the red box that allows the walkers to function and be controlled, to "understand thoughts, although they cannot think thoughts" by forming a bond with an individual pilot - a bond that can only expire on death. The team are now in possession of the walkers and the only five red boxes Schmitt knows of. However, they are deep in enemy territory, low on fuel and ammunition. Will they make it to a hide out in the French alps to the east?
